Nothing needs to be installed to download files. Downloads will work with standard browsers. You can click to confirm download, you will then be given the option of where you want to save the file. If the file opens automatically, then you can right click on your mouse and choose the option "save target as" to download the file to a specific location on your computer. When using apple mac use ctrl - click to download the file.
Some artists give you the opportunity of either one or two FREE promotional downloads, Further tracks can be downloaded as pay per track or via subscription.
The mp3 player you have installed to play files will affect the way the your browser treats the music files and each player has it's own quirks.Winamp is highly recommended.
*IF YOUR NOT PROMPTED TO DOWNLOAD YOUR CHOOSEN MUSIC FILE AND IT JUST OPENS THE FILE
The standard settings will prompt you as to whether you would like to download or open the file. We recommend you 'SAVE' the file to your choosen folder on your hard drive.
For security this is a default setting for Most Browsers, however if some time in the past you have choosen to open mp3 files, then everytime you try to download a file it will be sent to your
temporary internet folder. You should be able to right click on your mouse and choose the option "save target as"
If you want to be able to just click and save the file here are some tips.
- Windows 98 users -
Quick fixes to solve the problem IE 5.5 and Netscape users
GO TO: My Computer --> View --> Folder Options --> Filetypes --> find .MP3 files tick the option "notify before downloading this file type" or similar request.
For IE6 if you can't choose where to download the file
It's recommended you instal the Internet Explorer 6 service pack and this will resolve the problem.
- Windows 2000 users -
Go TO: My Computer --> Folder Options --> File Types --> MP3 --> Advanced --> Click always show extension -->
Then remove all the actions from the field.
This will stop the file being automatically open and sent to your temporary folder.
If you really want to use windows media player go to the players settings click confirm before downloading. It's recommended you instal winamp or music match as windows media is not a very good player for mp3 files.
In the case of Windows Media Player 9 please save files by right clicking otherwise, windows media player will automatically open the file and try and play it. Not a very flexible feature created by MS.
